Ex-Baltimore cop shot by wife, the daycare owner
James Weems Jr. 57, was arrested on 10 child sex offenses. These offenses involve three kids that were under his wife’s care. Weems Jr. is a retired Baltimore police officer shot by his wife. His wife owns the daycare where allegations are handed down on Weems Jr. These allegations state that he had been sexually abusing children in her care with nearly over a doze offenses of child sex.
His wife Shanteari Weems, is the owner of Lil Kidz Kastle Development Center. As of Monday, he is facing three counts of sexual abuse of a minor and three counts of third-degree sex offense, three counts of fourth-degree sex offense, three counts of second-degree assault and one count of displaying obscene material to a minor, according to the Baltimore County Stat’s Attorney’s Office.
So, what’s happening with Shanteari? She is facing assault and firearm charges for allegedly shooting the husband. She barricaded them both inside of their room at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on July 21. She had apparently received phone calls from multiple parents from the daycare. All of which were accusing her husband of molesting their children. Fox 5 DC reported that she confronted him in their room and shot him. The daycare is now shut down.
The Daily Mail reported that Shanteari Weems drove 50 miles to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, where he was staying, after she received a call about the second allegation.
