Pirates infielder suspended for incident during game
The league handed down a suspension of one game to the Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Rodolfo Castro. During a game, his phone fell out of his pocket during a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The phone flew out of his back pocket while sliding into third base. He didn’t even know the phone had fallen out of his pocket. The umpire had to tell him. Although not pleased Derek Shelton, Pittsburgh manager, said after the incident, “This was just a kid who made a mistake. It’s just one of those things we move forward from and tell him, ‘You can’t do that.’
Castro did make a statement and expressed his mistake and that he felt “horrible.”
