Missy to be honored with her own street
It is a great day to be alive in these days and see so much going on in Hip-Hop. Missy ‘Misdemeanor’ Elliott is being honored with a street named after her. Her hometown of Portsmouth, VA will have a portion of McLean Street named “Missy Elliott Boulevard.” This street will span from Airline Boulevard to Greenwood Drive. It will be in the vicinity of Tidewater Community College and the Portsmouth Rivers Casino. The area is currently under development and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2023. The area should help to attract tourists to an area that’s been deemed the city’s new entertainment district.
Erin Carter a fan of Missy Elliott had been requesting for her to have a street named after her. She stated, “It’s time for her hometown to honor her accomplishments as a music icon, It will be a testament (of) our city’s greatness that Portsmouth was the place that launched her career.” All praises the request was approved on Tuesday, August 9th.
Missy Elliott this is a well-deserved recognition and congratulations to you. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to this music industry. You are one of the World’s greatest period!
